QCC offers quality caregiver courses that teach techniques which ensure client quality of life.

Quality Care Courses are educational training that offers hands-on and in-person training for Caregivers and Foster Care providers. Each course is taught by a Registered Nurse, and has been approved by the Oregon Department of Human Services.  Courses also vary in subject, time and number of CEUs (continuing education units) offered.

Quality Care Courses provide valuable, hands-on learning in a group setting-not only for Caregivers, but also Foster Care Providers. The following are some of the courses we offer followed by a brief description of the course, such as:

  • Dementia: This course covers education on the process and progression of the broad category of the dementia disease. Included in this curriculum are techniques for communicating and managing challenging behavioral symptoms, as well as effective and meaningful activities to address a patient's social needs during all stages of the disease. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to better assess and manage behavioral symptoms, address social needs of patients and have new ideas of activities to improve a patient's quality of life. You will also be able to identify and address their pain along with providing appropriate nutrition and hygiene while providing safe care of each patient in a person-centered environment. 

  • Care of the Bed Bound Client: Whether a sudden accident or injury, or a long-term immobility; this course covers effective ways to improve a patient's quality of life. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to describe the best practices to prevent many of the problems that can develop from immobility; such as, pressure sores, muscle pain, incontinence and many more. Also, you will be able to know the proper mechanics and ways to protect yourself while caring for a bed-ridden patient.

  • Medication Administration and Documentation: This course addresses the details of administering medications to the patient, at the right time in the right route and assured that the medications administered are documented properly. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to properly administer and document the medications given to the patient.

  • Communication Log and Documentation: This course covers the importance of effective communication to properly care for each patient. The practice of communication is vital to ensure that all parties are staying informed on the patient and their care. This includes a communication log and proper documentation to care for all aspects of each patient.

Quality Care Courses are fun, informative, and will give each student the skills and competencies needed to care for clients with confidence and quality.

Participation is limited to 20 people per class to make sure each student gets the full benefit of the information and time with the instructor.
